FACUA calls on Foreign Affairs to collaborate with Peru in the investigation into the Repsol oil spill

The association recalls that the Ministry endorsed the multinational's safety measures in a 2020 document.

The president of FACUA-Consumers in Action, Olga Ruiz, sent a letter on Monday to José Manuel Albares, Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, urging him to intervene in the recent oil spill in Peruvian waters, in which Repsol is involved. More specifically, it asks for cooperation with the Peruvian authorities in the investigation into what different media and social organizations in the Andean country (including the consumer association Aspec) describe as the biggest environmental disaster in recent years. In support of its request, FACUA recalls the strong support that the oil company has received from the Spanish government in its operations in that country.
