Following action by FACUA-Consumers in Action, the insurer BNP Paribas Cardiff has assumed the payment of 10,448 euros of a loan with Cetelem taken out by a user for the purchase of a car. The affected woman took out a payment protection insurance policy with the company for the loan, and when she was declared totally disabled she requested that BNP take over the payment as stipulated in the terms of the policy.
Cetelem has also refunded the consumer 796 euros that it charged her for three months’ instalments that should have been assumed by BNP, as they were made after the court declared her incapacity.
Silvia G.T., a resident of Arrecife (Lanzarote), took out a consumer credit with Cetelem in January 2017 linked to the purchase of a vehicle. Togeth
