FACUA warns of electricity companies that fraudulently modify contracts to apply the gas cap
The association recalls that the inclusion of the compensation mechanism cannot be made in free market contracts with fixed price that were signed or renewed before April 26, 2022.

FACUA-Consumers in Action warns that electricity companies cannot modify free market contracts with fixed prices signed before April 26, 2022 to apply the gas cap that came into force on June 15.
The association has been receiving complaints from users to whom their companies have made a modification without prior notice to start including this measure fraudulently. Among the tricks they use, they change the price of the kilowatt hour (kWh) by pretending that it was the affected party itself who has requested a rate change. This would cause it to be considered a new contract, so that they could apply the compensation mechanism.
